Sauro Berti


SAURO BERTI studied clarinet at the "Conservatorio G.B. Martini di Bologna" under B. Bergami and got his diploma in 1986. He then participated in several master classes held by K.Leister, J. Brymer, T. Friedli and F. Meloni.
He has collaborated with the Orchestra of "La Fenice" Theatre in Venice, the "Haydn" Orchestra in Bolzano, the Orch. of the "G. Verdi" Theatre in Trieste, the Symphonic Orch. in Sanremo, vI Pomeriggi Musicali" in Milan, the Orch. of the "Bellini" Theatre in Catania, the Orch. of the "C.Felice" Opera Theatre in Genoa, the Orch. of the "P. da Palestrina" Theatre in Cagliari, the "Toscanini" Orch. in Parma, the Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestra of the "La Scala" Theatre in Milan, the National Symphony Orchestra of RAI Turin and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
He has been conducted by G. Gavazzeni, D. Oren, G. Pretre, A. Pappano, D. Robertson, R. Chailly, G. Sinopoli, M.W. Chung, W. Sawallisch, V. Gergiev, A. Lazarev, L. Maazel, R. Muti and P. Boulez.
He has partecipated in disc, radio and video recordings for Sony, Fonit Cetra, Bongiovanni as well as in television for Rai 3 and Rete 4. He took part in the DVD of the Serenata "Gran Partita" di W.A.Mozart with the Philarmonic Orchestra of the Scala conducted by Riccardo Muti.
Since 2001 he has held the post of Bass Clarinet in the "Teatro dell'Opera di Roma" as well as giving annual Bass Clarinet Master Classes in Castelfranco Veneto. The wealth of his didactic experience can be seen in his recently pubblished Twenty Studies: "Venti Studi per Clarinetto Basso e Corno di Bassetto" (Suvini Zerboni edition).
